About me
Never being satisfied with a painting is what keeps me searching for a higher level. The progress never stops.
How it started
The moment I started to understand and deconstruct the elements of a painting I realised that there are essentially 3 major components to any painting.
Form or shape, everything has a shape, light and dark, this is achieved by the used of colours; composition/perspective - objects far away should be small and objects near should be bigger, things are arranged in a way that makes sense based on distance.
Once I made sense of these 3 components, interpreting what I see onto a canvas became a lot easier. It is important to really understand what you are seeing in order to take that knowledge onto the canvas.
It is basically a translation of how you are viewing the scene, it’s as if you are deconstructing or breaking down the visual aspect into smaller more basic segments that can be understood. The more information and understanding of what you are seeing the better the outcome will be.
This is why I am constantly learning, because my interpretation of what I am seeing gets better and better over time. There is always more information to discover in each painting, which gives me more room for improvement.
